Is there an age limit for LASIK?

Recently, the FDA approved laser vision correction for adults 18 and older.

Anyone between the ages of 18 and 20 seeking refractive surgery must be able to show the Surgeon that their eyesight has remained stable for at least 3 years prior to surgery. (There can be some minor prescription changes, but no large changes in vision.)

Here are some of the things we will evaluate during your complimentary LASIK screening:
- Are you healthy?
- Do you take a lot of medications?
- Is there an underlying eye condition?
- Will you be compliant with instructions?
- Does you current prescription exceed what the laser is designed to treat?
- Do you have normal, healthy corneas?

If you are older than 60 and your underlying problem happens to be a Cataract, we have other options! Premium lenses such as the Tecnis, Crystalens, ReSTOR, Toric, and ReZoom, can allow you to see distance, up close, and intermediate (computer distance). If you would like for us to send you a free Cataract information packet, call our office at: 803-794-0000.

If you would like to schedule your complimentary LASIK consultation, or have further questions regarding the laser vision correction procedures performed at our center, please call: 803-794-0000, Ext. 4, and ask for Jennifer!
